Our Mission 
LAAIMPA – Los Angeles AI Motion Pictures Awards was created to celebrate the next generation of filmmakers exploring the intersection of cinema and artificial intelligence. We aim to highlight visionary storytellers who push the boundaries of creativity and technology.
Audience Choice Voting
To watch the nominated films and vote in the Audience Choice section, visitors need to register on the website.
After registration, you will be able to view the films, choose your favorite nominees, and cast your vote.
Step-by-step instructions are available inside the voting platform.
Everything you need to know about submitting your film, including eligibility, content guidelines, and award criteria.
Short Films: up to 10 minutes
Feature Films: up to 120 minutes
Trailers / Scenes: up to 5 minutes, for works not ready to be fully submitted
Screenplays: optional submission, reviewed separately
All submissions must be created or developed using artificial intelligence in some aspect of production, storytelling, visual effects, or post-production.
If a film is submitted as a trailer or scene, the jury will evaluate the work based on the presented material, focusing on creativity, style, AI integration, and potential.
All entries can be submitted through FilmFreeway or via email.
If submitting via email, applicants should provide a link to cloud storage (Google Drive, WeTransfer, Vimeo, YouTube, etc.).
Each filmmaker may submit up to 2 works per cycle.
Resubmission of the same work is allowed only if it has not previously won an award.
If a submission is received after the deadline, it will automatically be reviewed for the following month’s festival.
To ensure a smooth and fair festival experience, the following minimum requirements apply:
1. **Film Format**: Films must be submitted in a common digital format (e.g., MP4, MOV) with a maximum file size of 2GB.
2. **AI Integration**: All submissions must involve artificial intelligence in some aspect of production, storytelling, visual effects, or post-production.
3. **Submission Deadline**: Films must be submitted by the specified deadline for consideration in the current festival. Late submissions will be reviewed for the next edition.
4. **Originality**: The film must be the original work of the submitting filmmaker. Copyrighted material without permission is not allowed.
5. **Content Guidelines**: Films must comply with community standards and must not contain illegal or offensive content.
Following these minimum requirements ensures that all entries are eligible for consideration and awards.
All intellectual property remains with the author.
Festival may publish films, trailers, or scenes only with the author’s consent.
Submitted works may be used for promotional purposes on the festival website and social media.
Films are initially viewed by a private jury. Jury decisions are final and not subject to dispute. Winners are evaluated based on film quality, storytelling, creativity, and integration of AI elements.

Winners of selected categories will receive a unique NFT as a prize, representing their achievement in the AI film festival. This NFT serves as a digital certificate of recognition and a collectible for the creator.

Celebrates a short film that combines outstanding storytelling with innovative use of AI technology, demonstrating creativity, style, and impact within a brief but powerful narrative.
Best Sci Fi Film
This award recognizes films in a specific genre—such as science fiction, horror, drama, fantasy, or comedy—that are predominantly or fully created with artificial intelligence. It celebrates filmmakers who push the boundaries of their chosen genre by integrating AI tools to enhance storytelling, visuals, sound, or character design.
Best Horror
This category honors films in which AI generates elements of horror — from chilling visuals to unexpected plot twists. Winners demonstrate how technology enhances fear and innovation within the genre.
Best Kids Animation
This award celebrates children’s animated films where AI is used to craft enchanting stories, characters, and visuals. Entries showcase innovative AI tools that enhance creativity, education, and fun, blending technology with heartfelt narratives for young viewers.
Best Animation
This category honors animated films that leverage AI for innovative visuals, characters, and storytelling. Entries showcase how AI enhances creativity and efficiency in animation, evaluated on originality, technical innovation, and artistic impact.
Best Drama
This category recognizes dramatic films where artificial intelligence is used to deeply explore human emotions, conflicts, and social themes. Participants leverage AI to generate scripts, characters, or visuals, enhancing tension and the authenticity of storytelling.
Best Concept Award
This nomination celebrates films where artificial intelligence is at the heart of innovative conceptual design, from story ideation to world-building and thematic exploration. Participants leverage AI to generate unique ideas, plot structures, or visual concepts that push the boundaries of traditional filmmaking.
Best Visual Effects
Awarded to the film that delivers the most stunning, imaginative, and technically impressive visuals entirely created with artificial intelligence. This category celebrates filmmakers who harness the power of AI to craft scenes, frames, and compositions that would be difficult or impossible to achieve through traditional methods.
Best AI Sound design
This nomination celebrates films that harness artificial intelligence to revolutionize sound design, creating immersive audio experiences through AI-generated effects, music, voice synthesis, or dynamic mixing. Entries demonstrate how AI tools enhance tension, emotion, and narrative depth, pushing the boundaries of traditional sound engineering.
Best AI Created Character
This nomination honors the most compelling and innovative characters brought to life through artificial intelligence, whether in animation, live-action, or hybrid formats. Entries showcase AI’s role in generating character designs, personalities, dialogue, or behaviors that captivate audiences and advance storytelling.
Best AI Screenplay
This award honors films created within a specific genre—such as science fiction, horror, drama, fantasy, action, or comedy—that are predominantly or entirely produced with artificial intelligence. It celebrates filmmakers who skillfully merge traditional genre storytelling with cutting-edge AI technologies, creating experiences that both respect genre conventions and explore entirely new creative possibilities.
Best AI Driven Style
This nomination recognizes films where artificial intelligence plays a pivotal role in crafting distinctive visual or narrative styles, transforming traditional aesthetics through AI-generated techniques like dynamic lighting, surreal compositions, or adaptive editing. Entries highlight how AI elevates stylistic innovation, creating unique atmospheres that captivate and challenge viewers.
Best Music Video
This nomination celebrates music videos where artificial intelligence enhances visual storytelling, rhythm, and artistic expression through AI-generated effects, animations, or compositions. Entries showcase AI’s ability to synchronize sound and visuals, creating dynamic, immersive experiences that amplify the music’s impact.
Annual Live Ceremony
In addition to our monthly online releases, we will celebrate the best AI-assisted films of the year with an exclusive in-person award ceremony and presentation in the heart of Beverly Hills at the end of 2026. Attendees will experience a glamorous evening dedicated to honoring outstanding talent, innovative storytelling, and cinematic creativity. All participants and audiences will be notified well in advance with full details so they can join us for this prestigious celebration in one of the world’s most iconic locations.

Even short films or trailers should have clear sound, stable visuals, and a finished look. First impressions matter to the jury. -

Check Technical Requirements
Submit in a standard format (MP4, MOV, HD/4K). Avoid watermarks or incomplete versions. -

Best Short Film June 2026
Yuri Oh is an AI filmmaker based between Korea and Europe. Her debut film, Miserere Tui, has been recognized with multiple awards and official selections at international AI film festivals. Before transitioning into filmmaking, she spent over fifteen years in PR and marketing, where she developed a deep understanding of storytelling and audience engagement. Today, she combines that experience with AI to create emotionally resonant cinema, while also teaching AI filmmaking at one of Korea’s leading art universities.

Best Sci Fi Film June 2026
James Cipriano is a designer, filmmaker, and founder of Pretend Aperture. He creates cinematic AI films, music videos, and visual experiences that blend storytelling, design, and emerging technology.

- Rakhaad Febrikha
Best Horror June 2026
Rakhaad Febrikha is an Indonesian filmmaker exploring AI as a visual language for cinematic storytelling. His work spans psychological drama, surreal allegory, social realism, and historical cinema. His award-winning films include Room 65, The Banquet of Broken Beasts, Pasar Malam (The Night Fair), and Halimun, which have received recognition at international AI and independent film festivals. His filmmaking focuses on atmosphere, human emotion, and the intersection of traditional cinematic storytelling and emerging AI technologies.

- Vincent Perez
Best Visual Effects June 2026
Vincent Perez is an AI filmmaker and founder of Epic AI Studio, specializing in cinematic science fiction and fantasy storytelling. His films have received international recognition, including Best Visual Effects at LAAIMPA, Honorable Mention at the AI Film Awards Cannes, finalist at the AI London Film Festival, finalist at the Seoul International AI Film Festival, and winner of the ReelShort Awards for The Giants.

- Robert Gaudette
Best AI Created Character June 2026
Robert Gaudette is a Canadian filmmaker, former photographer, and AI creative technologist whose work blends generative AI with deeply human storytelling. His short film A Face Only a Mother Could Love won the Grand Prix at the 2026 Runway AI Film Festival and Best Picture at Australia’s Omni Film Festival. Drawing on his background in photography, Gaudette uses AI as a new cinematic language for building worlds, shaping emotion, and bringing impossible stories to life.

- Dr. Erdem Göktepe
Best Kids Animation May 2026
Dr. Erdem Göktepe is an animation director and an Assistant Professor in the Visual Communication Design department at Istanbul Commerce University. He is the creator and director of the award-winning 3D animated series “The Adventures of Papito”. Blending academic research with creative practice, his work focuses on digital storytelling, animation production, and emerging media technologies.

- Chris Bolt
Best Kids Animation June 2026
With a background in cinema and a multidisciplinary career spanning screenwriting, directing, editing, color grading, post-production, and music production, Chris Bolt has worked as an audiovisual producer for over 20 years. He has also spent more than 8 years as a 3D character artist for games, animation, and 3D-printed collectibles, and for the past two years has been working professionally as an AI Creative Director. During this time, he has incorporated artificial intelligence into his creative process as a tool for art direction, visual development, and narrative expansion across short films, animation, music videos, and concept trailers. His work brings together cinematic language, character design, visual identity, emotion, and storytelling, approaching AI not as a replacement for authorship, but as a creative resource in service of the artistic vision behind each project. Among his recent recognitions, his short film Cold Space became part of the Cais Room gallery and received an Honorable Mention at the international The Dor Brothers festival, where Chris Bolt was the only Brazilian artist recognized in that edition.
