Markus Light
Best Sci Fi Film · September 2026
Markus Light is an independent AI filmmaker from Austria whose passion for cinema has shaped much of his life.
For 20 years, he owned and operated a video rental store, surrounded by the films and stories he loved. Although the era of video rental stores eventually came to an end, his fascination with filmmaking never disappeared.
The emergence of artificial intelligence opened an entirely new chapter in his creative journey. For the first time, he could bring his own cinematic visions to life, creating original stories, characters, music videos, and imaginative worlds that would once have required the resources of a major film studio.
His projects range from science fiction and fantasy to emotionally driven drama and horror, including his ambitious ongoing series THE LEGACY OF SCULPTOR.
As an independent creator, Markus believes that technology is a powerful artistic tool, but that the heart of every film remains its story, characters, and emotions.
He is honored to join LAAIMPA as a guest jury member and looks forward to supporting fellow filmmakers who share his passion for cinematic storytelling.
