Elon Musk Launches AI-Powered Encyclopedia as a Conservative Alternative to Wikipedia
Elon Musk has introduced a new online encyclopedia called “Grokipedia.” According to him, this project is intended to be an alternative to Wikipedia and will reflect his conservative views. The main feature of Grokipedia is that its articles are not written by human volunteers but are generated and fact-checked by artificial intelligence—specifically, the Grok chatbot, developed by Musk’s company.
However, it is noted that many of the new encyclopedia’s entries are essentially based on data from Wikipedia itself, which Musk has repeatedly criticized. He has accused it of relying too heavily on outlets such as the New York Times and NPR and has generally been a vocal opponent of the “mainstream media.”
Musk stated that the idea for creating Grokipedia came from David Sacks, who served as the AI and Crypto Czar in the Trump administration. Right from the start, some journalists have claimed that the articles in the new encyclopedia contain inaccuracies and echo conservative talking points.
