From ‘Digital Legacy’ to Creator Tool: How Robert LoCascio’s Startup Pivoted

The vision behind Robert LoCascio’s new startup has undergone a significant transformation. Initially, the company Eternos, founded in 2024, was aimed at creating digital copies of people for their loved ones after death. Its first client was terminally ill Michael Bommer, which attracted widespread media attention to the startup.

However, LoCascio noticed an unexpected trend: most of the interested parties were people not preparing for their passing, but rather those wanting to use their digital twins here and now. This realization led to a rebranding and a shift in focus.

On Tuesday, the company announced its new name, Uare.ai, and that it had raised $10.3 million in funding. Its new mission is to become a scaling tool for professionals and creators. The personal “Human Life Model” (HLM) developed by the company can be used for creating content, communicating with clients, and executing projects, acting as a digital expert partner.

“I began to understand that large models are getting smarter at our expense,” explains LoCascio. “Our philosophy is different: you own your model, you can share it and monetize it.”

Training the HLM will take the form of an interview: the platform will ask users questions about their biography, values, and professional experience via text, voice, or video. A key difference from analogs like Character.ai is the refusal to use general LLMs to fill in knowledge gaps. If the model doesn’t know the answer, it will say so.

Uare.ai plans to generate revenue through a subscription model or by taking a share of the income that users generate using their AI doubles. Another startup, Delphi, backed by Sequoia, is already operating in this market and has attracted celebrities like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
