Robot Pilgrim: AgiBot A2 Sets World Record with 106 km Trek from Suzhou to Shanghai

A three-day trek would be a challenge for most people, but for a robot, it’s akin to a journey around the globe.

An AgiBot A2 unit, developed by the Chinese company Zhiyuan Robotics, recently completed a 106-kilometer pilgrimage from Suzhou’s Jinji Lake to Shanghai. The journey, which lasted three full days, has set a new Guinness World Record for the “Longest Journey Walked by a Humanoid Robot,” according to CBS News.

The robot proved to be a model citizen during its expedition across highways and bustling urban roads. In a statement, Zhiyuan Robotics highlighted that the AgiBot “navigated varied surfaces… all while adhering to traffic regulations.”

Although the robot’s battery life maxes out at three hours on a single charge, an innovative hot-swap battery system allowed it to continue its long march without ever powering down.

“I believe I can complete this challenge,” the AgiBot declared in an English promotional video. “After I successfully reach the finish line, I will break the world record for the longest distance walked by a humanoid robot and obtain the authoritative certification of the Guinness World Record.”

“Accompanied by the first ray of dawn in the morning, I have reached the finish line of this hike,” the AgiBot announced upon arriving at Shanghai’s scenic North Bund riverwalk.

As reported by Interesting Engineering, Wang Chuang, the company’s partner and senior vice president, stated that this feat demonstrates the robot’s reliability and stability. “Walking from Suzhou to Shanghai is difficult for many people to do in one go, yet the robot completed it,” he remarked enthusiastically.

Zhiyuan Robotics confirmed that the unit that made the journey is a standard, off-the-assembly-line model. According to Interesting Engineering, the company has already sold over 1,000 AgiBot A2 units in 2025.

This is a remarkable achievement for a humanoid robot. With China actively encouraging its tech sector to invest heavily in robotics, AgiBot’s journey is likely just the beginning.
