Bumble Introduces AI Assistant “Bee” to Personalize Matchmaking
Dating app developer Bumble has announced the launch of a generative AI assistant called “Bee,” designed to act as a personal matchmaker. Through private conversations, the algorithm learns about users’ values, relationship goals, and preferences in order to find more relevant matches. Bee is currently in internal testing and will soon be available in beta.
The feature will initially be part of a new “Dates” format: after a chat with the AI, users with similar interests will receive notifications about potential compatibility. In the future, Bee may also suggest date ideas and gather feedback from past matches.
Bumble is betting on AI amid declining interest among young people in traditional swiping. In some regions, the company may move away from swiping altogether in favor of “chapter-based profiles,” where users can learn more about each other’s life stories. This will provide more data for training the algorithms.
Bumble also plans to help users transition more smoothly to real-life meetings and adapt to the preferences of Gen Z, which tends to favor group socialization.
The company’s financial results exceeded expectations, with revenue reaching $224.2 million and shares rising by 40%
