The AI Country Chart-Topper: A Victory That Highlights a Dangerous Paradox

The song “Walk My Walk,” created by artificial intelligence and released under the fictional name “Breaking Rust,” has reached the top of the American Billboard Country chart. This success has sparked serious discussions about the future of music and the hidden threats to artificial intelligence itself.

The situation presents a notable contradiction: the country genre, always valued for its sincerity and real-life stories, has been conquered by algorithms that operate on templates. However, the main danger highlighted by experts lies not in the AI’s victory itself, but in a phenomenon known as “model autophagy disease” or “model collapse.”

This term describes the process of quality degradation in neural networks when they begin using data generated by other AI models for training. As a result, as if consuming themselves, the systems gradually lose their connection to original, “human” data. It is believed that after just five such processing cycles, “model collapse” can occur—a complete degeneration and deterioration of the output.

Thus, the dominance of AI-generated content in the future could lead not to a creative flourishing, but to its impoverishment—a widespread decline in quality, originality, and diversity.
